Travel with me once more all the way to Italy for one of my favourites destination weddings from last year!
If you’re familiar with my work, you already know by now that I really love Italy. It’s the combination of the food, the landscapes, the people… everything! So, a destination wedding in Italy is always something to look forward to photographing.
This time, I packed my bags (and cameras) and flew to Ischia, an Italian island near Capri and Napoli. Despite its proximity, this island is not as popular and touristy as Capri, so everything seems more authentic and less tourist-influenced. It felt like travelling to the true heart of Italy!
Are you curious? So, let’s skip to the good part and take a look at some of the pictures of this celebration!
A Jewish Destination Wedding in Ischia, Italy
But let’s talk about this wedding: as I told you above, this was a jewish destination wedding and I really fell in love with all the details. This was a three-day celebration: a welcome dinner on the first day, the wedding on the second, and a beach party on the last day.
The couple, Amber and Ben, really absorbed the character and atmosphere of the island and planned a wedding with a strong influence of Italian culture.
In the gallery you can find both digital and analogue pictures. Amber and Ben really like the analogue aesthetic and asked to include this service for their wedding. If you, like this couple (and me, obviously) are also a fan of this kind of photography, I think it’s a great add on to your wedding pictures!
About this destination wedding, there’re a few details I want to highlight. First of all: the wedding dress was beautiful! It was a Vivian Westwood design and it really stole my heart.
Then: the Italian inspiration they brought to the wedding was just amazing. The starters were spaghetti al pomodoro, and the wedding cake was cannolis. How cool is that?! Also, the tables were decorated with tomatoes and basil, and all of this to the sound of Italian music from the 50’s and 60’s.
I think you can feel how I loved to be part of this wedding, right? It was three incredible days, with really hot weather (photographing a wedding with a temperature of 42ºC is not easy, believe me!), a lot of great moments, and a final result that I really love. And the best part of the entire experience was being able to do it all alongside my dear friend Louise Golding, as her second photographer on this wedding, and with whom I was able to take dips in the sea, eat pizza and delicious ice creams.
