But despite this being one of the most beautiful days in the life of any couple, there are always a few worries that sometimes haunt brides and grooms. After all, how can you fully enjoy your day and still make sure that you’ll have the best wedding photographs? And, what should you do if you just don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera?

If you’re planning your wedding and these kinds of questions have already crossed your mind, don’t worry! First of all, it’s perfectly natural that you’re feeling these insecurities. Trust me, most people also feel them during this process. And, to help you stop worrying about it, I’l share with you a small guide of how you can get the best from your wedding session and still make the most of the day.

A Guide to Getting the Best from your Wedding Session

Before the wedding

It’s all about planning

A wedding is all about planning. And your wedding session is absolutely no exception. It’s important not only to choose a photographer you trust and feel comfortable with, but also to share your vision and expectations with this professional.

Before your big day, don’t forget to discuss the wedding theme, the location, and any special moments or details that you really want to make sure you have pictures of.

Think about doing an engagement session

Have you ever considered booking an engagement session? This offers a wonderful opportunity to not only have some beautiful pictures of you as a couple before the wedding day but also, so you feel more comfortable and create a closer relationship with your photographer.

Create your inspirational moodboard

As I said in the first tip: a wedding is all about planning. One of the things that can help you to make sure the final result of your wedding session is the one you’re expecting is to create a moodboard. You can add some examples of pictures you like and even share your inspiration with your wedding photographer. This is a great way to make sure that you and your photographer are both on the same page. It’s also a good help for your photographer to know what you value the most. However, it’s important that you see this moodboard only as an inspiration and that you don’t get hung up in specific images and poses. Remember: every wedding is unique and, above all, you should be comfortable and feel like yourself during the session.

On your wedding day

Get away from the crowd

Some couples are already doing their wedding session after the big day so they can fully enjoy every moment. But others still prefer to do it during the wedding, and it’s perfectly ok. If you want to make sure you have specific pictures alone as a couple, one of my advice is to get away from your guests and do it just the two of you and your photographer.

I know how uncomfortable it can be to have your photo taken while there are other people watching. So, just save an hour during this special day to take some pictures and enjoy some time alone as a couple.

Trust your Photographer

Let’s put it this way: your wedding photographer has likely covered numerous weddings and  is a professional at capturing the essence of this special day. So, it’s absolutely crucial that you trust your photographer’s expertise. Remember, you chose them for a reason, and they are dedicated to creating beautiful memories for you.

During the wedding session, let go of any reservations and trust your photographer’s guidance. They know how to capture your best angles, highlight your love, and bring out the beauty of the moment. Trusting your photographer allows them to work their magic and ensures that you’ll have the perfect pictures to remember your wedding forever.

Just live your day

Weddings can be really stressful for the couple, and sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the details and forget to enjoy the moment. Remember, this day is about celebrating your love and commitment to each other. Embrace the joy, laughter, and even the unexpected moments that make your wedding uniquely yours.

Allow yourself to be present in every moment without worrying about the camera. Your photographer is there to capture the genuine emotions and candid expressions that unfold naturally. When you focus on living the day to the fullest, it reflects in the authenticity of the photographs.
